Add a new dimension to your projects and create beautifully textured pieces in this hands-on workshop where we'll explore different one- and two-color stitches that mimic woven fabric. In this class you'll explore a variety of woven knit stitches that not only enhance the texture of your work but also beautifully break up color patterns in your yarn. In our sampler, we'll practice and compare the Herringbone Stitch, Diagonal Basketweave Stitch, Two Color Woven Slip Stitch, and Roosamine, or Knitweaving.

Students should know how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, and slip stitches.
Supplies Students Must Bring

Approximately 30 yards of smooth worsted-weight yarn in each of two solid colors that contrast, needles in a compatible size (usually US #7-9) with which you will be knitting flat, needles one size larger than the ones you use for knitting worsted weight yarn, also for knitting flat, and a cable needle. Optional: If you would like to explore how these woven stitches affect variegated yarns, also bring approximately 30 yards of a variegated yarn.
Note: The yarn requirements for this class are not intended to be onerous or to require purchasing new yarn, but to hopefully make use of some leftovers in your stash. If doing so means you need to work with a different weight of yarn, DK, Sport, and Aran weight yarns are all suitable. Please choose your needle sizes accordingly, and make sure all the yarns are the same weight.

Homework
With your variegated yarn if you're using one, or with one of your solid color yarns, cast on 20 sts to the needle size you usually use for working worsted-weight yarn, and work 4 rows in garter stitch, knitting flat.
